The UltraVNC Installer is very simple and asks minimal information when installing the product.

  1. The installer will ask for the language. Make sure English is already highlighted then click "OK".
  2. At the welcome screen click "Next".
  3. At the license screen click "I Accept the agreement" and then click "Next".
  4. At the information screen click "Next".
  5. At the destination location screen click "Next" (leave the default suggested location as is).

  7. At the Start Menu Folder screen just click "Next" again.
  8. At the Additional Tasks screen add checkmarks next to "Register UltraVNC Server as a system service", "Start or Restart UltraVNC Service", and "Associate UltraVNC Viewer with the .vnc extension" then click "Next".
  9. At the Ready to Install screen click "INSTALL".
The installation will progress through several steps. Just wait for it to complete.
  10. At the "Information" screen click "NEXT".
  11. At the completion screen click "Finish".

Configuring Authentication

  1. You should automatically be prompted by the VNC Service to enter first-time details when it initially launches.
YOU HAVE TO SET A PASSWORD AND LET US KNOW WHAT IT IS

If you don't get prompted to do this then right-click on the new VNC icon in your system tray and select "Admin Properties" from the popup menu then enter the password you want and click "OK" when done.

The remote support software is now installed and should be functioning in the background.

Windows Firewall

Next, let's open a "firewall port" to allow me to connect to the remote support software:

  1. Click Start, then "Run" from your start menu. Type "firewall.cpl" into the "Open" line of the "Run" box and click the 'OK' button.
  2. The Windows Firewall control panel will appear. Click on the "Exceptions" tab. Click the "Add Port" button.
  3. Type "VNC Native" into the 'name' field, and type 5900 into the 'port number' field. Leave TCP selected. Click OK.
  4. Click "OK" to leave the firewall control panel.

That's it! We can now help you remotely when you need assistance. You can also connect to this computer on your local network from other computers by using the VNC Viewer program and going to the IP address or hostname of the computer you want to connect to.
